Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is expanding its capacity at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) by leasing a new building.
The 66,552 sq ft facility, named "The Cubes at ORD", is near the south cargo area of ORD, said US real estate company, CRG in a LinkedIn post on 28 August.
"WFS, a global leader in air cargo logistics and ground handling, will use the state-of-the-art facility to support one of its strongest customers and enhance operations near O’Hare International Airport," said CRG.
In May 2023, WFS increased its cargo capacity at ORD by more than 10% with a new cargo terminal. The cargo handler signed a 15-year lease on the facility in the airport’s northeast cargo area.
WFS is a major provider of cargo and ground handling services for airlines and logistics providers in Chicago, supplying cargo, ramp, mail, and passenger services for customers including China Airlines, Eva Air, Kalitta Air, Flexport, Atlas Air, UPS, USPS and Air France KLM Martinair.
At the end of January, WFS started operations at its new New York JFK Aiport facility - the first newbuild cargo terminal at the airport in 30 years.
Singapore-based aviation services company SATS completed the acquisition of WFS for €1.3bn in April 2023.
