Handler names former Fraport cargo chief as Germany VP, citing expansion plans at Frankfurt, including move to ex-DHL logistics facility

Air cargo stalwart Roland Weil has taken up a new role at Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) after leaving his long-standing position at Frankfurt Airport.
WFS has appointed Weil as vice president of business development, Germany, with immediate effect.
The company said it has “big plans” at Europe’s busiest cargo airport and wants to expand its freight forwarding and e-commerce business.
The appointment comes as the company will soon move into a large logistics centre previously used by DHL at the airport’s Cargo City South.
Weil has more than 40 years of experience in air cargo, having started his career in the Air Canada sales department at Frankfurt.
He was also a “long-standing employee” of Delta Air Lines where he held various sales positions, most recently as regional director of sales for southern Europe and Southeast Asia.
Weil joined Frankfurt airport operator Fraport in 2005 where he was the central contact person for airlines’ route and network planners and "ensured the optimal development of scheduled flights".
In February 2013, he took on the position of vice president sales cargo at Fraport and was largely responsible for the expansion of the airfreight business at Frankfurt Airport.
Weil was also a founding member and first managing director of Air Cargo Community Frankfurt.
“We are pleased to welcome Roland Weil to the WFS family. In his new role, he will support the development of new products and the expansion of our air freight handling activities. We look forward to working with him as we continue to develop our operations in Frankfurt,” said Claus Wagner, managing director of FCS, the Frankfurt-based subsidiary of WFS.
