Roos Bakker, manager of business development and contract management at CTSN has been elected as the next TIACA Chair.

Bakker has served as one of two vice chairs, along with Miami International’s Emir Pineda, for the past two years and takes over from Steven Polmans.

Her term will begin at the close of the organisation’s Air Cargo Forum event in early November.

Before joining security firm CTSN, Bakker worked as director of business development for cargo at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

She also held several other roles at the airport, having joined in 2007.

Bakker is the first female chair of the airfreight organisation.

Tiaca director general Glyn Hughes said he was looking forward to working with Bakker as she steers the organisation to “an even higher level of success”.

“I am very honoured to have been elected as the incoming TIACA Chair,” said Bakker. ”This is an exciting time for air cargo with a number of challenges affecting global trade, supply chain safety, security and operational efficiency and we need TIACA to enhance its value to support the industry in achieving even greater success.

”I am very much looking forward to this opportunity.”

Tiaca added that the election for the two vice chairs is underway and will be announced upon its conclusion.
