Air Canada has inaugurated services linking Toronto, Canada’s biggest city and commercial and financial hub, with Prague, the capital of Czechia.

The summer connection will be operated three times a week until the end of September and will be served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft except during September, when the Canadian flag-carrier expects to transition to Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Jiří Pos, chairman of the board of Prague Airport, remarked: “The last time we had a regular connection from our airport to Toronto was before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019.

“We are therefore very pleased to welcome the return of this long-haul route in cooperation with Air Canada.”

Mark Galardo, executive vice president & chief commercial officer and president, cargo at Air Canada said that the airline was “excited” to return to Prague.

He pointed out that the new service would facilitate trade between the two countries as well as travel and tourism.

Nedime Canipek-Konuksever, Air Canada’s general manager for Eastern Europe and Turkey, added: “After an absence of over five years, we are proud to be back in the wonderful city of Prague, offering the only direct flight between Czechia and Canada.”

Canipek-Konuksever pointed to the service deepening economic ties between the two countries and “driving new business opportunities”.

Prague is the latest connection to be added to Air Canada’s European network. The carrier inaugurated a new Montreal to Porto route earlier this month, opened a connection to Naples in May, and resumed flights between Ottawa and London Heathrow route in April.

Plus, Air Canada will launch a new Montreal to Edinburgh route at the end of this month.

Finnair link to Toronto

In other good news for Toronto, Finnair has just announced that it is to re-start flights there on 4 May next year, having last flown to the city in summer 2015.

The new connection will be served three times a week next summer, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
