Georgian cargo airline Geosky Airlines is growing its fleet with the lease of a 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) from Airborne Capital.
Global aircraft lessor Airborne said the widebody freighter is being leased on a long-term basis to the Tbilisi-based cargo airline, charter and ACMI provider.
Data from Planespotters shows that Geosky's fleet currently comprises one 747-200 converted freighter and three 767-300 converted freighters, indicating that the airline is focusing on building up widebody capacity to support its regional and international operations spanning Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia.
Cian Dooley, founding partner at Airborne Capital, said: “We are delighted to announce this transaction and to welcome Geosky Airlines as a new customer of Airborne Capital.
"Geosky is our 30th airline customer and market interest in these aircraft is strong. As this is the first of a series of widebody freighter aircraft which Airborne is remarketing on behalf of a client, we look forward to the successful remarketing of the remaining B767-300BCF aircraft in due course.”
Tornike Kortoshidze, president of Geosky Airlines, said: “Geosky Airlines’ business has been growing steadily in recent years and we are delighted to add another B767-300BCF unit to address our growing business needs.”
In January, CN Logistics launched regular international charter flights between Ezhou Huahu Airport in China and Milan Malpensa International Airport in Italy. The first flight was carried out with a 767 freighter operated by GeoSky.
Headquartered in Ireland, Airborne Capital has a presence in Shannon, Dublin, London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The lease marks Airborne Capital’s first foray in the widebody freighter market and its first transaction with Geosky. It also marks the first of several 767 freighters that Airborne Capital is remarketing.
