Recently-launched 7Air Cargo has continued to expand operations with the addition of flights to Costa Rica and Antigua.

The airline, which received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration in February, will fly weekly to Antigua using one of its Boeing 737-800 freighters.

The service started on 10 September and has been launched in partnership with Globe Logisticz.

Flights will operate on Wednesdays between Miami International and VC Bird International Airport in St John’s.

The new flights have been welcomed by locals, according to the Antigua News website, as providing extra capacity and competition to the Amerijet operation to the island.

”This marks the beginning of delivering services to a region that has long awaited a reliable and committed alternative,” the airline said in a LinkedIn post.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago, the carrier started services to San Jose, Costa Rica.

The flights operate twice per week using one of the airline’s 737-800 aircraft.

The airline, which appointed Michael Mendez as chief executive earlier this year, has a total of three Boeing 737-800 freighters, with the latest aircraft having been delivered in June. A fourth 737-800 is due for delivery by the end of the year.

As well as its scheduled operations, the airline also provides charter flights and has interline agreements with major airlines covering Central America and the Caribbean.
