China Cargo Airlines has launched flights between Chongqing Jiangbei International (CKG) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International (BUD) in Hungary.

The airline, a joint venture between China Eastern Airlines (70%) and China Ocean Shipping (30%), launched the route on 15 January, according to Sina Finance, citing the China Civil Aviation Network.

Flights will take place three times a week using a Boeing 777 freighter. According to Planespotters, China Cargo Airlines currently has a fleet of 18 777Fs.

China Cargo Airlines previously launched flights between Shanghai Pudong International (PVG) and BUD in 2024.

Huiru Zhang, sales manager at China-based freight forwarder, Air-Sea Pacers, said in a LinkedIn post: ”This is Chongqing’s second international all-cargo route in 2026, mainly serving cross-border e-commerce and local IT products, further strengthening the China–Europe industrial and supply chain connection.”

Hungary is a logical choice for China Cargo Airlines' network as it was the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to become a partner in China's Belt and Road infrastructure and economic development initiative.

China Cargo Airlines also took steps to expand in Europe last year. In November, the airline re-launched its freighter route connecting Paris Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and PVG.

In May, China Cargo Airlines also launched a scheduled service between Hefei Xinqiao International Airport in China and Liege Airport in Belgium.

The carrier also offers flights in Europe to Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Stansted.
