A poll carried out by cargo software firm Awery Aviation Software has revealed that data security and compliance are top priorities for GSSAs when investing in digital platforms.
The poll received more than 200 responses and was conducted during an Awery session with members of the Federation of Airline General Sales and Service Agents (FEDAGSA) at the recent IATA World Cargo Symposium.
Awery, which is an affiliate member of FEDAGSA, counts GSAs amongst its capacity providers for its online booking software.
“It is absolutely imperative that companies’ data is stringently protected,” said Tristan Koch, chief commercial officer, Awery.
“Industry data regulations and certifications have always been essential to our work, and we’ve made long-term investments to ensure our systems meet the highest standards.”
“With the issues we’re seeing across the industry – cyber attacks and data breaches exposing vulnerabilities in major supply chain organisations – it’s more important than ever to ensure your data is protected,” Koch added.
FEDAGSA Glenn Shires added that it was essential for the organisation to help protect members against operational threats, especially data security risks.
“IT systems and providers play a key role in improving efficiency, visibility, and service delivery, but this should never come at the expense of security,” Shires said.
The poll also revealed that increased efficiency, cost savings, better customer service, and scalability were among the top priorities for GSSAs looking to invest in digital platforms.
Awery, which now has more than 100 customers - including about 45 GSAs, recently launched a new Cargo Claims tool, which can be used by GSAs to make processing and settling a claim for missing cargo straightforward.
