Former Sun Country Airlines COO to lead commercial and operations teams as the aircraft lessor expands its freighter leasing platform and strengthens workforce development initiatives

Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), the global provider of aircraft leasing and air cargo transportation solutions, has appointed Greg Mays as president.
Formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer at Sun Country Airlines, Mays will now lead ATSG’s commercial and operations teams.
He also previously worked for Alaska Airlines and at Delta Air Lines, as well as Boston Consulting Group.
Under Mays’ leadership, ATSG will continue to expand its global leasing platform with the A330 converted freighter and its EASA-approved A321.
At the same time, Mays will strengthen the company’s workforce through initiatives like AirborneTech, which enables employees to earn their aviation maintenance technician licence in as little as 12 months.
“ATSG has built a strong foundation in one of the most complex industries. My focus will be on strengthening that foundation by driving operational precision, empowering teams, and expanding capabilities. I look forward to working with colleagues across all functions to chart our next chapter together.”
ATSG shuffled its senior leadership team in June 2024, naming board member Jeffrey Dominick as its president and naming Mike Berger as chief executive, with longtime chief executive Joe Hete sliding into the role of executive chairman. Hete has since re-retired.
In April, ATSG was acquired by Stonepeak, an investment firm specialising in infrastructure and real assets.
The company was acquired in an all-cash transaction with an enterprise valuation of approximately $3.1bn.
