Freighter lessor ATSG has appointed Greg Mays as president and chief executive to replace Mike Berger who is retiring.

Mays will take up the role on 1 January, while Berger will remain at ATSG in an advisory capacity for part of 2026 to "ensure a smooth transition".

Mays was appointed president of ATSG in September 2025 and previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Sun Country Airlines.

Earlier in his career, he worked for Alaska Airlines and spent more than a decade at Delta Air Lines, where he oversaw operations in maintenance, ground handling, and cargo.

“I am honoured to have been named as the next leader of ATSG and look forward to building on the strong foundation that Mike established during his tenure," Mays said. "I am excited to continue working with our talented teams in my new role as we continue to innovate and expand ATSG’s capabilities with a steadfast focus on safety, operational and financial excellence, and best-in-class service.”

Berger joined ATSG in 2018, holding the roles of chief commercial officer, chief strategy officer, and president of Airborne Global Solutions before being promoted to president in 2023 and chief executive in 2024.
