Express parcel and freight logistics specialist Mark 3 International has appointed Matthew Ware as its new chief executive.
Ware was formerly chief executive of CFL, Heathrow Airport’s only on-site express courier handler.
During his eight years at CFL, the company grew significantly and expanded its partnerships with airlines across the world.
At CFL, Ware also oversaw the introduction of a new security system that automates and simplifies manifest information sharing with Border Force and other parties, including HMRC, and means less disruption and more consistent collection times for CFL’s customers.
Prior to CFL, Ware held several senior positions with FedEx, where he worked for 16 years.
Ware said: “I am delighted to be joining Mark 3 at this time; the global trading ecosystem has recently suffered some major shocks, but we are very well placed to help our customers continue to import and export efficiently and cost-effectively.
“The growth of e-commerce is simply incredible, and Mark 3 has developed particular expertise in handling e-commerce shipments into the US.”
He added: “Mark 3 already works with CFL, and that will continue and flourish to meet the growing needs of our courier partners.”
Mark 3 International was formed in 1990 and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading experts in UK/US trade. The company has warehousing and clearance facilities at Heathrow and JFK in New York.
David Taylor, commercial director at Mark 3, said: “We are hugely excited to welcome Matthew as our new CEO. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise and is recognised in the media as a key spokesperson on global air cargo issues.
“Our future is now in very capable hands.”
