All Nippon Airways (ANA) has become the first Japanese airline to place its air cargo capacity on CargoWise and will now be able to accept bookings from freight forwarders using the digital booking platform.
Through CargoWise, forwarders can search, reserve, confirm reservations, and compare fares on the web for ANA flights 24/7.
ANA said its initial customer using the link is DHL Global Forwarding, but in the future it planned to work with more forwarders.
The company said it now aimed to improve its digital cargo capacity reservation operations for forwarders.
Kenichi Wakiya, general manager of the ANA Cargo business unit and president & chief executive of ANA Cargo, said: “ANA flies to major destinations around the world, and we are committed to making it easier and more efficient for our customers to use our network through the reservation system they use.
“We will work to further improve the convenience of cargo space reservations.”
“Japan is the world’s fourth-largest economy and one of the world’s largest producers of high-tech and consumer goods," commented Scott McCorquodale, director of airline connectivity, WiseTech Global (Australia), which owns the CargoWise platform.
"These sectors generate high demand for air cargo imports and exports, and we are pleased to partner with ANA Cargo to meet this demand. ANA Cargo plays an important role in facilitating trade between Japan and the rest of the world.
"This will further improve the efficiency and accuracy of the entire supply chain by allowing freight forwarders to access ANA Cargo’s air cargo space availability and pricing information in real-time to complete bookings, all without leaving CargoWise.”
Max Sauberschwarz, head of international air transport at DHL Global Forwarding, added: “DHL is committed to achieving excellence in the digital world, and this direct data exchange means we can plan, book and manage our shipments with ANA Cargo directly within CargoWise. This will enable us to provide our customers with a more convenient and efficient service.”
In February, Turkish Cargo began offering reservations on its flights to freight forwarder and shipper users of the CargoWise platform.
