Airfreight booking and quote management platform cargo.one has launched the latest iteration of its product, one that features a range of updates supported by the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

The enhancements are said by cargo.one to “streamline the entire quoting process for forwarders, from initial customer emails to quotes won and booked”.

Forwarders that have used the new capabilities “report improved efficiency and faster quote turnaround times, leading to increased conversion rates”, a statement from cargo.one said.

The latest cargo.one product seeks to meet challenges that have long faced the freight forwarding industry: that of needing to struggle with fragmented workflows that force teams to chase rates across different tools and to manually copy large amounts of data.

Moreover, as supply chains have grown more complex and customer expectations risen, the need for workflow automation has become even more critical, the company pointed out.

However, cargo.one said its latest product release addresses these challenges with three key innovations. First, AI-powered automation has accelerated the process of quoting.

Freight forwarders can receive hundreds of requests for quotes each day, with teams spending significant amounts of time manually processing requests and logging data.

cargo.one now uses AI to extract shipment details from incoming emails and collect relevant rates from its AI-native database, offering forwarders an initial quote more quickly and easily.

The second improvement is an enhanced rate management system that covers all rate types, such that complete door-to-door pricing is now available in one place.

Alongside the platform’s display of live and static rates, forwarders can now manually request rates from airline sales teams directly on the platform, while leveraging their own consol and gateway rates.

This more comprehensive rate coverage enables forwarders to compare all rate options.

Thirdly, an integrated workflows enable freight forwarders to work on opportunities and quotations from one central queue, with no need to switch between tools and systems.

They can use cargo.one to prioritise opportunities and quotes in a central queue, access every rate needed, and synchronise quotes directly to their transport management system (TMS).

Moritz Claussen, founder and co-chief executive of cargo.one, stated: “cargo.one focuses its AI where we can unlock significant, everyday value for our customers.

“By eliminating manual work from quoting, we enable freight forwarders to focus on their core expertise – understanding customer needs and providing exceptional solutions.

“Our latest step in combining AI automation, comprehensive rate coverage, and unified workflows, unlocks a new level of efficiency that wasn’t achievable before.”

In June, cargo.one announced that it had added new functionality to allow users of the Descartes TMS to access the carrier capacity available on the portal.

Descartes’ TMS now includes the cargo.one Air Freight Integration Module, allowing freight forwarders to search, compare, quote and book capacity.

June also saw China Airlines launch its own e-booking portal while selecting cargo.one as its platform partner.

Forwarders using cargo.one in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Netherlands, and Luxemburg can now quote and book China Airlines capacity for general cargo shipments up to 10,000 kg to important destinations including Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and Hanoi.

Today, freight forwarders using cargo.one 24/7 have access to live and static rates from over 75 airlines globally, enabling accurate comparisons, bookings, and shipment tracking.

It is available in 134 countries.
