Turkish Airlines has awarded Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) a three-year cargo and ground handling contract at Miami International Airport (MIA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The partnership will see SATS-owned WFS handle approximately 54,250 tonnes of Turkish Airlines' cargo annually across both locations. WFS began working for Turkish at MIA on 17 July and at JFK on 1 August.

Under the agreement, WFS will provide cargo handling, mail processing, and ramp handling services at MIA building 707 and cargo and ramp operations at JFK building 260.

Turkish Airlines operates four weekly flights to MIA that generate approximately 18,250 tonnes of cargo, as well as three weekly flights processing 36,000 tonnes per year at JFK.

WFS will service Turkish Airlines' freighter fleet, including Airbus A330F and Boeing 747F and 777F aircraft, at both locations.

"We are pleased to expand our partnership with Turkish Airlines across these two strategic US gateways," said Frank Clemente, senior vice president, cargo and express North America at WFS.

"This contract reinforces our commitment to delivering the reliable, high-quality ground handling services that support Turkish Airlines' growing cargo network in North America."

The Miami and JFK contracts complement WFS's existing relationship with Turkish Airlines, with the handler already providing services at seven North American stations including Boston (BOS), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Seattle (SEA), Houston (IAH), and Washington Dulles (IAD).

Last month, WFS signed a multi-year contract with Emirates SkyCargo to provide cargo handling services at MIA.
