Finnair will cancel 80 flights this Friday (4 July) as ground staff at Helsinki Airport continue their industrial action.
The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) announced industrial action will take place on 7 July, 16 July, 18 July, 21 July and 23 July.
This follows on from strikes by the union on 2 July which resulted in the airline cancelling around 100 flights.
The airline is still assessing the impact of the strikes taking place later this month.
“The impact of industrial action on these days is still being assessed, but is expected to be smaller than in early July,” the airline said, adding that it generally has a clearer picture of how the strike action will impact operations a couple of days out.
In an update, the IAU suggested little progress had been made in talks: ”A solution to the labour dispute concerning air transport services has continued to be sought in conciliation meetings at the end of last week and the beginning of this week.
“In the exploratory talks, which have proceeded mainly in the spirit of mutual discussions, not a single way forward has been found, on the basis of which both parties could have accepted that they would start negotiating the details of a possible negotiation outcome.”
Meanwhile, in June, the airline cancelled around 271 flights on 17 June and 19 June due to the industrial action.
Finnair was also affected by strikes carried out by its own pilots earlier in the year, but it reached a tentative agreement with the pilot union in June.
The agreement was reached on 8 June and will cover three years, with the last year optional.
The tentative deal will now need approval by both parties’ administrators. Details on what the agreement includes have not yet been released.
