Indonesian carrier expands cargo fleet with third AFG-sourced aircraft as domestic operators strengthen freighter capacity across the region

Indonesia-based Trigana Air Service has taken delivery of a leased Boeing 737-300 freighter from Aircraft Finance Germany (AFG).
Frankfurt-based lessor, AFG said that the aircraft was acquired from China-based Central Airlines and will be used to support Trigana's cargo operations.
According to Planespotters, Trigana's latest cargo aircraft was delivered in December. The 737-300 passenger to freighter (P2F) aircraft is 32-year-old and entered service on 28 December.
AFG said: "AFG is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of one Boeing 737-300 Freighter, bearing serial number 25998, from Central Airlines in China. This transaction marks the third aircraft acquired by AFG from Central Airlines, further reinforcing the strong and trusted relationship between the two parties.
"The aircraft was later placed with Trigana Air Service and will support its cargo operations."
Trigana provides both passenger and cargo services. The airline offers scheduled freighter services on selected domestic routes, carrying general cargo between major and regional airports. The airline also provides charter cargo services, which are especially utilised for transporting cargo to remote areas where ground transportation is limited or not possible.
Data from Planespotters shows that Trigana's current cargo fleet includes one ATR 42, two 737-300 aircraft in 'preighter' configuration, five 737-300P2Fs, and one 737-500 cargo aircraft.
Several other Indonesia-based airlines have been expanding in recent months. In September, Garuda Indonesia Cargo joined WebCargo by Freightos’ air cargo capacity booking platform to bring expanded real-time e-booking to freight forwarders worldwide.
In the same month, BBN Airlines Indonesia was granted Third-Country Operator (TCO) authorisation by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
