MBS Logistics has acquired Gerhard Wegmüller as the company looks to expand in the Swiss pharma and aerospace markets.
MBS, which is part of Cologne-based MBS Logistics Group, said Gerhard Wegmüller specialises in logistics solutions covering aviation and aerospace, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and complex transport.
Key areas of expertise include time-critical spare parts logistics for Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations and 24/7 emergency logistics.
MBS Logistics is already active in time-critical logistics through its Anytime brand, operating in locations including Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
”This acquisition leverages the strengths of both companies, creating synergies that not only enhance service quality but also improve responsiveness in global markets, even for the most demanding and time-sensitive transport requirements,” the companies said in a press release.
Following the deal, Gerhard Wegmüller will continue to operate as an independent entity under its established name.
Maria Wegmüller, who has been a shareholder and managing director since 2023, will maintain her leadership role and work closely with Fabian Heil, managing director of MBS Logistics Switzerland
MBS said the acquisition continues its strategy of targeted expansion and strengthening of specialised business areas, building on the Zurich location, which was established in June 2023.
Joerg Roehl, chief executive of MBS Logistics Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MBS Logistics, said: “By acquiring Gerhard Wegmüller we are strengthening our presence in Switzerland and expanding our range of specialised logistics solutions.”
Wegmüller added: “Our customers will benefit from an expanded range of services, while our experienced team continues to stand by them as a trusted partner.”
