Cologne-headquartered MBS Logistics Group is adding a new business unit that will focus on aerospace logistics.

The decision to launch the new division follows MBS’ acquisition of aerospace logistics-focused focussed Gerhard Wegmüller in Zurich earlier this year. The company also already offers time-critical transport services through its MBS Anytime business.

The service portfolio that the new unit will offer includes Aircraft on Ground (AOG) transport solutions, Next Flight Out (NFO) services, On Board Courier (OBC) assignments, airfreight charter, 24/7 monitoring and operational control, customs and export compliance support, as well as logistics services across maintenance and repair workflows.

Target customers include Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) providers, airlines, service centres and parts distributors.

The new aerospace unit will be headed up by Joerg Hansen, who has years of experience in airfreight, having previously worked for Geis Air + Sea and Group7.

MBS Logistics Group chief executive Joerg Roehl said: “The aviation industry places particular demands on logistics processes, especially in time-critical situations. With the new business unit, we bring together existing expertise and establish a clear organisational structure tailored to this specialist field.

"Joerg Hansen brings the required depth of experience and market knowledge to lead it. We are very pleased to welcome him on board."
