Recently acquired freight forwarder Morrison Express has appointed Asok Kumar as its new chief executive.

Kumar joins from Schenker where he was most recently head of global airfreight, a role he has held for more than four years.

Previously, Kumar was head of airfreight for the Americas region at Schenker for almost three years and prior to that held the role of director at the forwarder’s Indonesian business.

In total, he worked at Schenker for around 20 years. Kumar started in his new role at Morisson Express earlier this month.

Kumar leaves Schenker following its acquisition by DSV earlier this year.

In 2024, Taiwan-headquartered Morrison Express ranked as the 17th largest airfreight forwarder in the world with volumes of 314,776 tonnes and overall company revenues of $937m.

He joins Morrison Express at an interesting time for the company after it was acquired by Japan’s SG Holdings in February of this year.

SG Holdings is mainly known for its express delivery services - it owns Sagawa Express - while in forwarding and logistics, it already owns EFL Global through its investment in Expolanka Holdings as well as SG Logistics, SG Holdings and C&F Logistics.

The Japan-headquartered company acquired Morrison Express to expand its presence in the semiconductor and high-tech logistics industries.
