Alexander Winter joins from DB Schenker where he served as chief executive for Austria and Southeast Europe, overseeing multimodal operations

Dachser has appointed Alexander Winter as the new managing director of its Air & Sea Logistics division for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Winter joins from DB Schenker and succeeds Marc Meier, who will leave the company at the end of the month.
At DB Schenker, Winter has held various management positions since 1999 with a focus on sea freight and contract logistics. Since 2018, he has been chief executive for Austria and the Southeast Europe region, responsible for air and sea freight, road transport, and contract logistics.
In his new role, he will report to Tobias Burger, chief operating officer of Air & Sea Logistics.
“With Alexander Winter, we have gained a leader with extensive experience in the international logistics business for Dachser,” said Burger. “In his successful career, he has proven that he can develop local markets in a customer-oriented manner and set them up to be operationally efficient.”
"In our core markets of Europe in particular, we need a strong air and sea freight organisation that drives growth with globally integrated end-to-end transport and contract logistics,” added Dachser chief executive Burkhard Eling.
“With his extensive logistics and management experience, Alexander Winter has what it takes to take the close connection with our European groupage network to a new level.”
The appointment is the latest in a series of executive moves from DB Schenker since its takeover by DSV earlier this year.
As well as Winter, the last few weeks have seen the appointment of Asok Kumar - former head of airfreight at Schenker - as the new chief executive of Morrisson Express.
Meanwhile, Maersk strengthened its airfreight business with the appointment of Christoph Hemmann as head of global air and LCL, and John McDonald as head of Maersk Air Freight Forwarding.
Both Hemmann and McDonald are former managers at Schenker.
