DHL has appointed Oscar de Bok as the new chief executive of DHL Global Forwarding and Freight to replace Tim Scharwath who is retiring.

De Bok joined DHL in 1999 and was managing director of the company’s supply chain business for several countries and regions, including Italy, the Nordics, and Asia.

Then, in October 2019, he was promoted to the role of chief executive of DHL Supply Chain.

DHL Group chair of the supervisory board Katrin Suder said: “We are delighted to have Oscar de Bok lead the Global Forwarding, Freight division.

”His outstanding track record as chief executive of our DHL Supply Chain division, combined with his deep understanding of our business, makes him an ideal candidate to accelerate sustainable growth in our forwarding and freight business.”

His role at DHL Global Forwarding and Freight runs until August 2030.

Suder also thanks Scharwath for his time at the company: ”On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Tim Scharwath for his service to the company and for his successful work in effectively leading and further developing DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.

"During his tenure, the division modernised its IT Infrastructure, accelerated digitalisation, and continuously improved its services and solutions for customers."

De Bok will be replaced at the supply chain business by Hendrik Venter, who has "successfully led DHL Supply Chain businesses across different markets and regions", the company said.

It is the second chief executive appointment announced by DHL in recent weeks.

Earlier in July, the company announced the appointment of Michael Young as chief executive for the US to take over from Robert Reiter.
