American Airlines Cargo has promoted Andy Cornwell to the role of head of cargo sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Cornwell is an American Airlines stalwart, having joined the company 35 years ago. He has held various roles within the carrier, notably in sales and business development.

Most recently he was regional sales manager for northern Europe, a role he held for more than 12 years.

”Recognised throughout the air-cargo industry, he is widely respected for his passionate advocacy of the merits of freight-side aviation,” American Airlines Cargo said.

“I am delighted to be taking on this new role which is a natural extension of my previous post covering northern Europe,” said Cornwell.

”I believe the cargo products and customer service at this airline are second to none and to be able to drive forward our full range of products to an even wider group of customers is a challenge I am happy take on.”

He will continue to be based at London Heathrow (LHR) and will report to global head of sales, Indy Bolina.
