Steven Polmans worked as an independent air cargo consultant before joining ground handler Swissport

Steven Polmans has begun working for Swissport as senior vice president, cargo global, following a stint as an independent air cargo consultant.
The appointment was initially announced in November. Polmans has held a diverse range of roles within the air cargo industry, most recently as an independent air cargo consultant, a venture he began in July 2023 and ended in December.
From this month, he has begun working in his new role at Swissport, Polmans confirmed in a LinkedIn post.
He also remains a member of the board at The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), a position he has held since August 2016. Polman was also chairman of the TIACA board from July 2019 until January this year.
Polmans began his air cargo career at Aviapartner, building up ground handling services knowledge. Later roles included chairman of Air Cargo Belgium; director of cargo & logistics at Brussels Airport Company; vice president of business development & free zone regulatory affairs at Abu Dhabi Airports; and chief customer officer and member of the advisory board at Nallian.
Polmans said in the LinkedIn post: "After more than two years working as an independent cargo expert on a variety of exciting projects around the world, meeting inspiring people and truly enjoying what I was doing without actively looking for a change, that one opportunity came along that makes you pause and rethink…
"It didn’t take long to realise that both my heart and mind were aligned. I’m therefore very pleased I am joining the large Swissport family, taking on the role of SVP Cargo Global, supporting the company in further strengthening its cargo product and global footprint."
