Air cargo think tank Aerion has added Ismail Durmaz to its team following its launch earlier this year.

Durmaz, who is also chairman of the Global GSA Group, will take the role of partner corporate & business affairs where he will work in close collaboration with Adrien Thominet, chairman & founder.

Aerion said that Durmaz will play a ”key role in aligning Aerion’s vision with its strategic partnerships and operational execution”.

Aerion was launched earlier this year and is sister company to the ECS Group, Global GSA and CargoTech, achich itself contains five companies offering various technologies.

It was setup to provide airline customers with an holistic view of all the different services and technology that can be provided across the group.

The company differs from an adviser as it is liable for the service provided by the different business within the group.

It will also co-invest and support customer initiatives. It is hoped establishing Aerion will lead to better cross-selling across the various businesses.

“I am honoured to join Aerion at such a pivotal moment for the industry. This project brings real value to airlines: access to shared expertise, cutting-edge digital tools, and a holistic vision—all delivered with unmatched agility. It’s a new way to imagine service and performance in air cargo,” said Durmaz.

Aerion will also soon unveil its advisory board.

Earlier this year, Durmaz left his role as chief executive of the Global GSA Group as he stepped up to the position of chairman.

The GSA appointed Aytekin Saray as its new chief executive.
