GSSA AIA Cargo has appointed Giuseppe Tarantini as its new chief executive to replace Mark Andrew, who is stepping down from the role.
Tarantini starts in the role on 16 July and has more than 35 years of experience in the air cargo industry.
He started his career at Swissair Cargo in Milan, where he held various leadership roles across Europe for over 15 years before moving to South African Airways for the next 17 years, where he obtained the role of general manager of Europe.
He then moved to leadership roles at CMA CGM Air Cargo and Air France KLM, where he was part of the global key account team. Most recently, he worked for dnata in the UK as commercial project manager.
“I wasn’t actively looking for a new role, but this opportunity felt like a natural next step,” Tarantini said. “I’m honoured by the trust placed in me and excited to contribute to AIA’s continued success, working closely with the team, customers, and business partners.”
“We are confident that Giuseppe will bring fresh perspectives, strong leadership, and a clear vision to guide the AIA Group through our next chapter of stability, growth, and innovation,” AIA said.
The company also thanked Andrew for his efforts over the past 17 years: ”We extend our sincere thanks for his service and the contributions he made over his 17-year tenure.
”Under his leadership, AIA has grown, developed, and become a significant player in the GSA market in the UK and abroad. We are grateful for his professional management, dedication, and commitment.”
