GSSA Airbridge International Agencies (AIA) has promoted Sarah Macfarlane to the role of chief executive, while Jake Holliday will head up sister company Animal Aircare.

Macfarlane returned to the company last year in the role of vice president of cargo sales and services, where she was responsible for overseeing several of the company’s key markets.

Previously, she worked for AIA between 2011 and 2024 as sales manager for the UK before leaving in 2024 to take up the role of commercial director at APG Cargo.

In total, Macfarlane has 28 years of experience in the GSA/Airline industry. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has also worked for KLM and ANA.

Meanwhile, Holliday joined Animal Aircare during its Heathrow opening phase back in 2021 and has helped oversee the company’s expansion to Luton and Stansted.

Last year, he was promoted to the position of UK manager.

The two replace Giuseppe Tarantini in their respective chief executive roles. Tarantini was appointed in July last year.

In a LinkedIn post, he said he would be leaving the company after a short but intense and eventful time at the helm.

“My best wishes and congratulations go to them both on these well-deserved appointments,” Tarantini said. ”I am confident that the newly initiated journey will continue with renewed energy, determination, and fresh ideas, further strengthening partnerships across our remarkable animal welfare and airfreight industry.

”I would also like to sincerely thank the wider AIA Cargo and Animal Aircare teams for their dedication, professionalism, and continued support.”
