Al-Khater joins from chief operating officer role at Hamad International Airport, bringing experience from QatarEnergy strategic initiatives

Qatar Airways Group has appointed Hamad Ali Al‑Khater as group chief executive to succeed Badr Mohammed Al‑Meer.

Al-Khater, who began his new role on 7 December, joined Qatar Airways Group from his role as chief operating officer at Hamad International Airport.

In that role, he was responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of airport operations, while leading its strategic direction, operational excellence, infrastructure expansion, and the continuous enhancement of passenger experience.

Prior to his tenure at Hamad International Airport, Al-Khater held senior roles across QatarEnergy, driving business development, deal execution, and leading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives.
