The former DB Schenker executive is tasked with accelerating growth and expanding market position across Canada and US operations

The Rhenus Group has appointed Peter Nordstrom as chief executive for its Air & Ocean division in North America where he will oversee regional operations.
With more than 25 years of international experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, and supply chain management industry, Nordstrom has led successful transformational projects, improved operational performance and accelerated growth across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, said the German logistics company.
Prior to joining Rhenus, he held senior positions at Ceva Logistics, Geodis and Kuehne+Nagel, and was most recently the executive vice president of ocean freight Americas at DB Schenker.
As chief executive for the Air & Ocean division in North America, Nordstrom is tasked with ensuring strategic alignment with the global Air & Ocean strategy and leading organisational growth in Canada and the United States.
He will increase operational efficiency, expand the regional market position, and accelerate growth. Nordstrom will report directly to Jan Harnish, member of the board, Air & Ocean.
“We are pleased to welcome Peter to the Rhenus Group to lead our North America Air & Ocean operations. North America is a vital region for the organization and plays an important role in our industry as it serves as a connection to global trade, especially in today’s market landscape,” said Harnish.
“Strong leadership experience like Peter’s will enhance our market position across the region, driving the next phase of growth and new opportunities to develop. I’m confident he will continue to strengthen our market position and expand our footprint across the region.”
“I am honored to join the Rhenus organization and oversee its Air & Ocean division in North America. I look forward to strengthening and growing our market presence with our teams in Canada and in the United States, driving performance and identifying new opportunities,” said Nordstrom.
“North America is a key region for the global supply chain. As customer expectations continue to evolve, we will remain focused on adapting and delivering solutions that meet the demands of today’s evolving market across the region.”
The company has made other senior appointments in recent months. In August, Joachim Hanssen assumed the role of chief executive for Asia Pacific. He also oversees central Asia & Turkey. As of this month, Alberto Martinez has also become chief executive for Europe.
The last few months have seen a spate of former DB Schenker executives take up new roles following the company's takeover by DSV earlier in the year.
Last month, Dachser announced that it had appointed former Schenker executive Alexander Winter as the new managing director of its Air & Sea Logistics division for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
As well as Winter, the last few weeks have seen the appointment of Asok Kumar - former head of airfreight at Schenker - as the new chief executive of Morrisson Express.
Meanwhile, Maersk strengthened its airfreight business with the appointment of Christoph Hemmann as head of global air and LCL, and John McDonald as head of Maersk Air Freight Forwarding.
Both Hemmann and McDonald are former managers at Schenker.
