Frankfurt: February volumes fall 3.4%

Germany’s Frankfurt Airport saw its cargo throughput (freight and mail combined) contract by 3.4% in February, to 161,366 tonnes.

Airport operator Fraport attributed the decline to “the ongoing slowdown in global trade”.

While freight volumes fell by 3.5% during the month, however, mail was up by 1.1% year on year.

For the year to date, total cargo throughput stood at 324,698 tonnes, down 3.8% on the first two months of 2018.
