Hailey to hand over Air Cargo News’ controls to Brett

L-R: Damian Brett and Roger Hailey

After five years at the controls, Air Cargo News’ Roger Hailey will step down as editor in May as he moves on to become a freelance journalist.

He will be replaced in the role by Damian Brett who steps up from his current position as news editor.

Hailey has been a journalist for 43 years, starting out at Heathrow airport with an international news agency.

He has been writing about freight and logistics for more than 30 years at publications such as Lloyd’s List, Containerisation International and International Freighting Weekly, where he was editor for more than six years.

He will continue to play a role at Air Cargo News, becoming contributing editor at the publication in conjunction with his freelance work for other titles.

Brett, meanwhile, began his career 14 years ago at a local paper before moving over to the logistics sector in 2006. He has also written for Lloyd’s List and was editor of Containerisation International.

“I am excited about carrying on Roger’s excellent work over the last five years,” said Brett. “He has re-shaped Air Cargo News into a monthly publication with a strong focus on in-depth analysis, insightful interviews and regional and sectorial foci, while our website has developed into a leading source of daily airfreight news.”

Hailey added: “I became a journalist because I love writing and I decided now was the time to take on the new challenge of being a freelance. I am pleased to stay involved with Air Cargo News and Freighters World and to continue to contribute to their success.”

Air Cargo News publisher Andy Salter said: “Roger has been a great servant to the publication and we wish him well in his freelance endeavours. Damian has demonstrated he will be a worthy successor and we are looking forward to seeing him thrive in the role.”

Hailey will leave his position at Air Cargo News at the end of May.
