Nick Gretton has joined UK-based Baxter Freight as finance director in line with its growth plans.

Nottingham-headquartered Baxter Freight – which has recently achieved an all-time turnover of more than £50m – is celebrating its fifth anniversary of trading this year.

Gretton is a chartered accountant with many years’ experience as finance director across a range of sectors.

Gretton said: “Baxter Freight is an ambitious company dedicated to making a positive impact on businesses’ supply chains. The vision of the leadership team attracted me and I’m thrilled to have been provided with a unique opportunity to develop the business and help it to become a market-leader.

“My time here has already been very exciting – I’ve been impressed with the quality of the team and the service that is offered to customers.

“My top priorities going forward are to ensure that the financial systems and processes help to support growth, while anticipating and preparing for the emerging challenges and opportunities that all businesses will face in the years ahead. I am looking forward to cementing the freight firm’s position as one that provides the best customer service in the UK logistics industry, builds strong relationships with its suppliers, and is a great place to work.”

Baxter Freight, which was founded in 2014 and now employs 70 staff, specialises in providing strategic solutions for businesses distributing goods in the UK, Europe and across the world.

Chairman Ian Baxter said: “The success of our business depends on the strength and skills of our team – that’s why I’m delighted to welcome Nick and his expertise to Baxter Freight. We have big plans for the future and Nick’s wealth of experience will be a major asset.”
