United and AeroUnion bring widebody TempControl to Mexico City

US-based airline United Cargo has entered into an interline agreement with Mexican all-cargo carrier AeroUnion that expands United’s widebody TempControl network to include Mexico City International Airport (MEX).
TempControl is a specialised service for the transportation of pharmaceuticals, healthcare material and other commodities requiring temperature-sensitive transport.
“We provide TempControl service in MEX via several daily narrowbody flights to and from five of United’s US hubs,” said Jan Krems, president of United Cargo. “But many TempControl customers advised us of their need for widebody connectivity to MEX.
“This new interline service provides customers shipping widebody freight to MEX with the same relentless focus on control and integrity and the same level of service excellence they rely on throughout our global TempControl network.”
Shipments bound for Mexico City on the new interline service may be tendered in any approved container or packaging at any certified handling location in United Cargo’s TempControl network.
United Cargo will transport the items to Los Angeles, where they will be transferred to AeroUnion’s daily widebody flights from the Californian airport to Mexico City. Customers will then recover these shipments from AeroUnion’s facility at MEX.
In related news from United Cargo, the carrier has added seven new locations to its TempControl network, taking the total to 75. In Europe, it has added Athens, Naples, Prague and Venice as well as a second station in Milan, where the service is now available at both Malpensa and Segrate airports.
In the US, Portland, Oregon and Salt Lake City, Utah are now certified TempControl network locations.
