Suparna Airlines launches freighter service from Oslo to Nanjing

Suparna Airlines is to start a twice-a-week Boeing 747-400 freighter service between Oslo, Norway, and Nanjing, China, commencing on September 1.

Suparna Airlines forms part of China’s HNA Group, which also owns and operates Hainan Airlines. Formerly Yangtze River Airlines, it is known in China as Jinpeng,

Its B747-400F service out of the Norwegian capital is to operate from Oslo Airport on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in Nanjing the following day.

Located west of Shanghai, Nanjing Airport is said by Avinor, the Norwegian national airport operator that is responsible of running 44 airports across Norway, to be well situated to serve the growing demand for fresh Norwegian seafood in China.

Martin Langaas, director cargo for Avinor, observed: “We expect seafood up to about 250 million NOK [Norwegian krone] in export value annually on this route.”

In May this year, an A330-300 service linking Oslo to Beijing was launched by Hainan Airlines. At the time, Avinor noted that seafood would partially occupy the bellyhold capacity of the three times a week operation.
