United Airlines to add new connections to Japan

United Airlines has confirmed that it is to launch new links between four of its US hubs and Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport.

The airline will inaugurate a non-stop service linking Chicago, Los Angeles, New York/Newark and Washington DC with Haneda on March 28 next year, subject to government approval.

Currently, United Airlines offers daily non-stop services between San Francisco and Haneda.

In addition to United Airlines’ new Haneda flights, Tokyo’s Narita International airport will continue to act as a hub for its non-stop daily service between Narita and Denver, Guam, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark and San Francisco.

However, with the launch of the new connections, United Airlines will no longer serve Narita from its Chicago and Washington DC hubs, shifting these flights from Narita to Haneda.

Patrick Quayle, United Airline’s vice president of international network, observed: “United has offered non-stop service between the US and Japan for more than 40 years and we are excited to expand our Japan network at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and continue to be the largest US carrier to Japan.”
