US-based freighter operator 21 Air is reported to have won an ACMI contract with AeroMexico.

The carrier recently announced it had gained US Department of Transportation approval to provide US-Mexico cargo services using two of its B767 freighters on a long-term ACMI contract with a “multi-billion airline group”.

While it did not name the carrier it would be flying for, CH Aviation said that the airline in question is AeroMexico and added that the services would connect Los Angeles with Mexico City International, Guadalajara and points in central America.

The service will initially fly with B767-200F capacity but there are plans to later add a B767-300F.

Meanwhile, 21 Air has also expressed interest in starting operations at the planned all-cargo Airglades International Airport in Florida.

“The focus of this development is to provide an alternative solution to the everyday busier Miami International Airport especially on the air cargo service to flowers, fruits, fish and other perishables,” it said in a statement.

“21 Air as an all-cargo cargo carrier airline is aware of this situation and encourages all parties involved in the development of the airport to work closely together to ensure the success of this project and has expressed its interest in having future operations via this airport.”
