Amazon Air switches two freighters to ATSG from Atlas

Amazon Air has transferred the operation of two Boeing 767-300 freighters from Atlas Air to ATSG airline Air Transport International (ATI).
Atlas confirmed the move and pointed out that the aircraft would still be dry leased to Amazon from its Titan Aviation Leasing unit.
Atlas and Amazon said the move was linked to a network adjustment.
“As per our contract, Amazon is provided the option to make adjustments to their network as they determine,” a spokesperson told Air Cargo News.
“Titan Aviation Leasing also dry leases the 17 B767-300s that Atlas Air continues to fly for Amazon. All 19 Titan Aviation Leasing aircraft are dry leased to Amazon under long-term agreements expiring between 2026 and 2028.”
An ATSG spokesperson also confirmed the move: “ATI, will be operating those two additional aircraft on behalf of Amazon. As always, we continue to respond to our customers’ need to deliver innovative air cargo options to the marketplace.”
An Amazon spokesperson added: “We are constantly innovating on behalf of our customers, and from time to time that means making adjustments to our air network. Two aircraft previously assigned to Atlas will now be operated by another carrier.”

Both airlines operate the aircraft that make up the Amazon Air fleet of 44 freighters: Four B737-800Fs, 28 B767-300Fs and 12 B767-200F.
Meanwhile, Amazon Air has been busy expanding its airfreight network.
Earlier this month, the e-commerce giant revealed that its new air hub at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport will open in October.
Amazon is also extending its presence at Chicago Rockford International (RFD).
The cargo carrier has also revealed plans to add a new Wilmington Air Park sorting facility.
And in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport Amazon is developing a $1.5bn air hub with space for 100 aircraft.
Finally, St Louis Airport last week revealed that Amazon Air had begun using its air cargo facilities via twitter.
