Schmitt takes up Swissport role for Germany & Austria

Swissport International (Swissport) has named Dirk Schmitt as chief executive cargo services for Germany & Austria.
He will be responsible for Swissport Cargo Services (SCS) Germany, employing approximately 400 staff.
The task will include running Swissport’s cargo operations at nine online airports as well as several subcontracted European stations.
Schmitt will take over the post from Peter Kohl, who moves to new responsibilities within Swissport.
Schmitt will be based at Frankfurt Airport’s Cargo City South in Germany.
Prior to his new assignment at Swissport, Schmitt has held various senior management positions in Europe, including one at Fraport in Frankfurt. He joins Swissport from Luxair Cargo.
Nils Knudsen, head of global cargo services, comments: “Dirks’ long-standing experience in the industry and his knowledge of the German and European air cargo business will be a great asset for Swissport to sustainably grow this market further and improve our position in the region.”
