JAL to ramp up connections out of Tokyo from 2020

In response to the allocation of new daytime slots at Tokyo-Haneda International Airport in 2020, Japan Airlines (JAL) is to ramp up its connections between the Japanese capital and destinations in the US, Finland, Russia, Australia, India and China.

As a result of the changes, Japan’s flag-carrier will offer 34 international routes out of Tokyo-Haneda from March 29 next year.

It is also boosting its connections out of Tokyo-Narita International Airport. JAL recently announced that it will launch new services next year to Bengaluru and Vladivostok, and add a further rotation to San Francisco.

Plus, in 2021, JAL will establish a new evening flight from Tokyo-Narita to Chicago O’Hare International Airport in partnership with American Airlines.

The highlights of the proposed changes out of Tokyo are as follows:

Continental United States/Americas

Japan Airlines-operated routes

  • New services between Tokyo-Haneda and Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth and Los Angeles
  • Two daily flights between Tokyo-Haneda and New York JFK
  • An additional service between Tokyo-Narita and Chicago O’Hare in 2021

American Airlines-operated route

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Dallas Fort Worth and Los Angeles

As a result, Japan Airlines and American Airlines will offer a total of 18 daily flights from Tokyo’s metropolitan airports of Haneda and Narita by 2021.

Hawaii routes

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Honolulu

As a result, JAL will offer four daily flights between Tokyo’s metropolitan airports and Honolulu (two a day from Tokyo-Haneda and two a day from Tokyo-Narita). JAL will continue to offer a daily flight between Tokyo-Narita and Kona.

Finland routes

Japan Airlines-operated route

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Helsinki

Finnair-operated route

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Helsinki

Japan Airlines and Finnair will aim to accommodate the needs of customers by establishing flights with two different schedules between Tokyo-Haneda and Helsinki.

Russia route

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Moscow Sheremetyevo

JAL will aim to strengthen its partnership with Aeroflot.

Australia route

  • New service between Tokyo-Haneda and Sydney

India route
