Etihad Cargo picks WFS at Frankfurt

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is to provide warehouse and cargo handling services for Etihad Cargo at Frankfurt Airport from February 15, 2020.

The handler also began serving Etihad Cargo at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in November 2019.

In addition to these new contracts, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier has extended its existing cargo handling agreements with WFS at six other gateways – New York John F Kennedy International, Washington Dulles International, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, London Heathrow, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Brussels – for a further three years.

WFS group chief commercial officer Barry Nassberg said: “Our global handling framework with Etihad Cargo demonstrates that we have a fully-committed, long-term partner which values our handling expertise and is looking to us for innovative and efficient ways to help their business grow.”

That framework includes a focus on temperature-sensitive cargo. Etihad Cargo is the second global carrier to obtain IATA CEIV certifications for both pharmaceutical and perishable logistics, and its partnership with WFS enhances its end-to-end cool-chain solutions at Paris and Brussels, where WFS also holds CEIV accreditations, the airline said.

The extended agreement also includes a continuation of passenger ground handling ‘above the wing’ services in New York, Chicago and Bangkok.
