Dry ice container enables temperature-controlled movement of pharma goods

TOWER has created a reusable container, which uses dry ice, that enables pharma cargo — such as clinical trial products, diagnostic testing kits and vaccines — to be transported safely, at required temperatures and in compliance with global regulations.

The KT400D-60 container is capable of maintaining temperatures between -60 -80 degrees Celsius for 120 hours, with an ambient temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.

The KT400D-60 uses dry ice technology to maintain product temperature and a built-in data logger to record real-time internal and external temperatures. No human intervention s required throughout transit.

The container can also be pre-conditioned by clients allowing them a simple load, lock and delivery process when transporting goods. Additionally, the container can be configured to allow shipments to be sent without using dry ice.

TOWER said it initially created the KT400D-60 for a leading global biotechnology company that had to produce a cold chain solution to meet the temperature compliance of its biological oncology product.

TOWER also noted that thanks to the KT400D-60’s robust packaging, it is capable of withstanding both extreme temperatures and the rigors of a global supply chains.
