Gebrüder Weiss expands e-commerce hub near Vienna

Gebrüder Weiss’s home delivery division has invested €6.8m in expanding its hub for e-commerce shipments, located in Maria Lanzendorf near Vienna. 

The company added a new 5,000 sq m building to the plot to meet market demand. 

In the first half of this year, Gebrüder Weiss’s shipping consignments increased from 410,000 to 580,000.

The number of consignments in Austria shipped by Gebrüder Weiss’s home delivery division also increased from 173,000 in the first half of 2019 to 235,000 in the same period of this year.

Additionally, Gebrüder Weiss shipped nearly 110,000 more consignments from January to June 2020, compared with the first six months of last year, to end customers in Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Romania and Serbia.

Gebrüder Weiss said it intends to build on its success by expanding its activities in Eastern Europe. It is also eyeing the possibility of accessing new markets in other countries.
