Lane to lead UPS’ corporate affairs and communications

UPS has appointed Laura Lane as chief corporate affairs and communications officer.

Lane will oversee UPS’ public policy and government affairs, public relations, employee communications and the USP Foundation. She will also join the company’s executive leadership team and will report to chief executive Carole Tomé.

Lane joined UPS as president of global affairs in 2011. Prior to that, she was managing director and head of international government affairs at Citigroup and vice president for global public policy with Time Warner.

In her past government career, Lane served as a trade negotiator in the office of the US trade representative, as well as a diplomat in the US foreign service.

In addition to her role at UPS, Lane is co-chair of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA), and is a member of the board of the UN refugee agency UNHCR USA. Lane is also a board member of several US business associations and non-profit organisations, including the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
