AirBridgeCargo transports 1,000 boxes of yellow fever vaccines

AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has successfully transported a shipment of yellow fever vaccinations from Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport in Russia to Frankfurt in Germany.

Movement of the 36-tonne shipment — which was comprised of more than 1,000 boxes — was organised by UNICEF in partnership with DSV.

When the vaccines arrived in Frankfurt, they were transported by truck to Liege in Belgium.

ABC said that over the last six months, it has “prioritised its healthcare services, introduced sterile services, advanced its online solutions to improve customer experience, carried out disinfecting on its cargo and cargo equipment and freighters, and worked under the protection of its frontline personnel across the globe”.

Nikolay Glushnev, general director at AirBridgeCargo Airlines, commented: “For the last five years, we have deepened our expertise in the transportation of healthcare products, with vaccines being of paramount importance to prolong the life of the world’s population and facilitate well-timed vaccination, especially for children.

“While yellow fever remains a very common disease in Africa and South America, we are honoured to be part of the cold chain to prevent its further spread and support routine immunisation programmes of the local population”.

Ivan Shevchenko, airfreight manager of air and sea at DSV, added: “DSV Russia focuses on arrangement and securing uninterrupted supply of vaccines for UNICEF and other vital supplies for people in need. ABC is a leader in pharma transportation and is one of our reliable carriers, who is always trusted by us and helped us to accomplish this important mission”.
