Emirates Skycargo partners with Alha in Italy

Emirates SkyCargo has partnered with Alha CoolBox to facilitate pharma and temperature-controlled shipments between its flagship hub in Dubai and Rome FCO Airport.
The deal follows Emirates restarting passenger flights – which include bellyhold cargo capacity – to Rome in July.
The carrier said that it is using Alha CoolBoxes in Rome to maintain the cool chain when transporting pharma between its aircraft and Rome FCO’s cool centre.
The Alha CoolBox is powered by hybrid engines, has a built-in monitoring system, and has two separate compartments with separate cooling systems for storage between -20°C and 50°C.
Danilo Bonfanti, Emirates’ SkyCargo manager for Italy, said: “We are delighted to be working with our long-standing partner Alha in Italy to provide enhanced protection for temperature-sensitive cargo, including high value pharmaceuticals.
“Emirates SkyCargo is firmly committed to developing fit for purpose infrastructure for specialised cargo in the markets we operate and the cool dollies provided by Alha will help us ensure the integrity of the cargo during transportation between the warehouse and the aircraft.”
Emirates SkyCargo offers specialised transportation solutions for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals through its Emirates Pharma product. The carrier has partnered with ground handlers to develop pharma corridors between several important pharma origin and destinations stations including Rome and Milan.
