ABC B747-8F transports lengthy cargo

AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has partnered with TVS SCS / Pan Asia Logistics Germany to transport equipment, measuring 16 m in length, from Frankfurt to Zhengzhou.

The lengthy cargo, which weighed almost 16 tonnes, is being used in a power transmission project in China.

ABC used its XL team, which specialises in transporting “super heavy and off-sized cargo” to prepare and execute loading the cargo onto the carrier’s Boeing 747-8F via its nose.

“The Boeing 747-8F’s unique loading feature allowed for single-piece transportation without [the need to] dismantle the equipment, which sped up the loading procedures, [reduced] risks and stimulated an easy-to-handle installation process on-site,” the carrier said.

Nikolay Glushnev, general director of AirBridgeCargo Airlines, commented: “Every time we are entrusted to ship out-of-gauge cargo, we feel privileged to be able to gain unique competences from our Volga-Dnepr’s colleague,s as well as building a dedicated abc XL team capable of handling any logistics challenge.

“With more than 30 years of having best practice, robust procedures in place, adherence to high-quality standards and qualified personnel, we are able to process XL shipment requests and come up with viable logistics solutions, as well as advise on handling issues.

“We keep on expanding our network of XL online stations to enable flawless cargo journeys and to ensure the availability of essential equipment, sophisticated airport and ground handling facilities and certified staff. On top of that, our nose-door loading capability guarantees the speed and safety of the whole process, and has been so far applied to more than 10% of all XL shipments during the first eight months of 2020.”

ABC said its certified XL team has worked on a variety of complex logistics projects, thanks to its use of IT tools such as 3D modelling, industry training and ‘standard’ off sized loading equipment.
