AirBridgeCargo’s first B777 freighter enters service

The Volga-Dnepr Group has begun operations with its first Boeing B777 freighter, with the aircraft joining the AirBridgeCargo (ABC) fleet.
The freighter was delivered to Volga-Dnepr Group in August before being certified in Russia.
The airline group said the aircraft will be deployed on trans-Siberian services, with the first flight operating between Seoul and Domodedovo.
“It is the largest twin-engine freighter with up to 106 tonnes of payload which complements ABC’s already extensive fleet of Boeing 747Fs and gives more flexibility in terms of special and general cargo transportation,” the group said.
Tatyana Arslanova, chief executive of the Volga-Dnepr Group, said: “We would like to thank our personnel and specialists, partners and customers for this great milestone at the turn of 2021 when airfreight is in high demand, especially for healthcare, e-commerce and essential cargo transportation.”
Natalia Butrova, logistics leader Russia & CIS, for customer GE Healthcare, added: “Timely delivery of sophisticated medical equipment stays one of the top tasks during these difficult times. Time-wise, airfreight is the most preferred transportation mode, which, coupled with safety and security, is very important for us.”
The addition of extra air cargo capacity comes shortly after the group took the decision to ground its fleet of seven AN-124 aircraft on safety grounds after one of its aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing due to an uncontained engine fan disk failure.
