SpeedCargo partners with Microsoft on cargo dimensioning

SpeedCargo Technologies has partnered with Microsoft on its cargo dimensioning technology.

The company’s three solutions — Cargo Eye, Cargo Mind and Cargo Arm — will utilise Microsoft’s Azure Depth Platform program to scan cargo dimensions.

The system is cloud-based allowing information to be shared across supply chain partners.

SpeedCargo said that air cargo’s focus so far has been on the digitalisation of paperwork, but as a next step the sector will begin capturing the digital information of physical cargo.

This will allow the optmisation of cargo when loaded onto aircraft in order to maximise capacity.

Suraj Nair, founder of SpeedCargo Technologies, said: “The global pandemic has accelerated the need for transformation in the logistics space.

“With the number of operational flights being reduced at a rate of circa 75% relative to pre-pandemic time and cargo volumes at nearly pre-pandemic levels, there is an immediate need for optimization. SpeedCargo is working closely with Microsoft to build a digital twin of the physical cargo, provide critical information and the building blocks for a digitised operational model.”
