Nordisk parent sold to TransDigm

Aerospace components firm TransDigm Group has reached agreement to buy the Telair Cargo Group of businesses, owners of the Nordisk airfreight container manufacturing company.
US-based TransDigm will pay around $725m in cash for Telair, which it describes as “a global leader in on-board cargo loading and handling, restraint systems and unit load devices.”
Over 80 per cent of Telair’s $300m revenues are from commercial aerospace and the balance from the military market.
The business consists of three major operating units, Telair International (Telair Europe), Nordisk Aviation Products and AAR Cargo Systems and employs just over 600 employees worldwide.
Telair Europe is the largest operating unit. Headquartered in Miesbach, Germany, it designs, manufactures and supports on-board baggage and cargo loading and handling systems for wide-body and narrow-body aircraft worldwide.
Nordisk, headquartered in Holmestrand, Norway, designs and manufacturers lower and main deck containers, pallets and platforms.
Telair US, headquartered in Goldsboro, North Carolina, also designs and manufactures in-aircraft cargo loading systems.
The acquisition, which is expected to close within the next 60 days, is subject to regulatory approval.
