Pilots at Aerologic approve industrial action

Pilots at German cargo airline AeroLogic have voted in favour of potential industrial action but the move is not currently expected to impact air cargo operations.
Trade union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) said that the cockpit employees of AeroLogic, a joint venture between Deutsche Post DHL Group and Lufthansa, have voted in a ballot in favour of industrial action to enforce collective agreements.
At this stage, the union has not announced specific actions, but it now has the potential to do so.
Lufthansa Cargo and Deutsche Post DHL Group both told Air Cargo News: “We have taken note of the call for industrial action at Aerologic by Vereinigung Cockpit. We do not expect any major impact on operations as a result of the proposed measures. Currently we do not comment on any details of the union’s demands.”
VC said that “despite consistently high capacity utilisation, especially during the crisis, and correspondingly good business,” the management of Aerologic hasn’t responded to calls for collective bargaining from VC.
“We are faced with an incomprehensible refusal by the employer to hold collective bargaining talks,” said Stefan Herth, president of VC. “Aerologic’s behavior is playing with fire.”
Lufthansa’s cargo business has registered record results for the second year in a row.
