Ireland-based international aircraft leasing company Avolon said it has been placed in the “Low Risk” category by Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Risk Rating organisation, Sustainalytics.

Its inaugural rating score was 16.0, reflecting “a strong performance across a broad range of ESG metrics”, based on a scale of 100–0, from highest to lowest risk, and putting it amongst the top 5% of its industry group for ESG performance.

Avolon chief executive Dómhnal Slattery commented: “Our inaugural ESG rating is an important milestone for Avolon, and our strong rating reflects our commitment to ESG and our rigorous risk management framework. At Avolon, operating responsibly as a business is central to our strategy, and is a source of trust for all of our stakeholders. Our low ESG risk rating reflects our commitment to sustainability, caring for the communities in which we operate, and delivering long-term value for our shareholders.”

Avolon became the launch customer for Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) A330-300 freighter conversion programme in 2021 after signing a deal for 30 of the aircraft.

Avolon reports Q1 2022 net loss of $182m
